Repeater Update – 4 December 2025

We had a lengthy and cold site visit today where we made a few changes.

  • GB7CK – We took the decision that due to lack of use and to save on rising energy costs, the DMR repeater was switched off.
  • GB7FK – We are pleased to announce that we have obtained a brand new D-Star repeater, this was installed to replace the old one which was purchased in 2007 and has had some issues.  Initial reports have been positive with improved coverage, it will stay in local mode for now and we have more work to do with filters very soon.  We hope to have a D-Star Gateway added in 2026 to connect to the Network.
  • MB7NFK-8 AX25 Packet Node 432.675
We installed this new packet node, if you have some packet equipment, please dust it off and join in the experiments, any reports gratefully received.
This system will be a node only, and is currently running quite low power.
Thanks to Fraser as always for his help and support and to all those that called in with reports.

Repeater Update – 28 May 2025

Hi all, a rather long site visit to the repeater site today with more work needed.
  • GB3FK no changes
  • GB7CK DMR is on the new antenna we installed today.
  • GB7FK is on air in local mode using the old DMR antenna at the top of the tower.
It seems we do have some issues on the D-STAR repeater with interference. We will look to do another site visit soon to investigate more, for now lets see how it goes.
Thanks to Fraser as always for his help and support and to all those that called in with reports.

Repeater Update – 9 December 2023

GB7AS and GB7CK are now part of the Brandmeister Network, for more information visit the Brandmeister dashboard.

Repeater Update – 24 October 2022

A site visit was made to GB3FK / GB7CK today, everything is working well and ready for the winter period.

We replaced the Sim card that provides connectivity for GB7CK, this should last for 2 years. We also installed a large leisure battery for GB7CK, this will last ages in a power outage.  Note: this will only work in “local” mode in a power failure, not on the network.
We have paid our site rent for the next 12 months, we have electric to pay again next and that charge is expected to rise after April 2023.

GB3FK – We are aware of the old crunching noises and QRM, we will try and trace and look at this in the coming months. Otherwise, its working very well.

GB7CK – Excellent coverage and great reports.
